Dirt-Draft Hot Laps set the tone early, with Brenham Crouch blistering his way to the top of the board in a 12.795-second lap, narrowly edging out championship leader Brad Sweet and veteran Kasey Kahne. The three heat races saw plenty of action, including a hard-charging win for Rico Abreu in Heat 1 and equally impressive drives by Danny Sams III and Spencer Bayston in Heats 2 and 3, respectively. Justin Peck, running third, kept within striking distance but settled for the final podium spot after several bid attempts fell just short.
