Lucius inherited the top spot with eight laps remaining and held off Logan Schuchart during the closing laps to collect the $20,000 victory.

Michael “Buddy” Kofoid finished third, while Tanner Thorson and World of Outlaws championship leader David Gravel completed the top five.

The victory made Lucius the 157th different winner in World of Outlaws history and the 17th driver from Ohio to win with the series.

Lucius Completes a Storybook Night

Lucius showed speed from the beginning of the evening against a stacked field of 49 sprint cars.

The driver of the No. 32 recorded the fastest overall lap during hot laps before leading his qualifying group. He followed that performance by winning the third heat race and advancing from fourth to third in the Toyota Dash.

Lucius started the 40-lap feature from the inside of the second row behind Logan Schuchart and Carson Macedo.

Rather than settling into position against some of the most accomplished drivers in sprint car racing, Lucius immediately established himself as a contender. He remained near the front as the leaders began navigating traffic around Attica’s tight and demanding racing surface.

Lucius eventually worked past Macedo to take the lead, but Larson later moved to the front and appeared positioned to claim his fourth Brad Doty Classic victory.

The complexion of the race changed with eight laps remaining.

Larson encountered trouble in Turns 3 and 4 and flipped, ending his pursuit of the win and returning the lead to Lucius.

The young Ohio driver remained composed through the restart and the final laps. Schuchart applied pressure from behind, but Lucius protected the top spot and crossed the finish line first to secure the biggest victory of his career.

Schuchart Comes Up One Position Short

Logan Schuchart placed himself in an ideal position to earn his first Brad Doty Classic victory.

Schuchart won the fourth heat race before leading every lap of the Toyota Dash, giving the Shark Racing No. 1S the pole for the feature.

He led early before the battle at the front intensified between Macedo, Lucius and Larson. Schuchart remained within striking distance and received another opportunity following Larson’s crash.

Starting alongside Lucius for the late restart, Schuchart attempted to challenge the young leader but could not complete the pass.

His runner-up result was still his best career finish in the Brad Doty Classic.

Kofoid Returns to the Attica Podium

Michael Kofoid earned his second consecutive Brad Doty Classic podium finish.

The Roth Motorsports driver started fourth and remained among the leaders throughout the 40-lap feature. Kofoid avoided the trouble that eliminated several contenders and advanced one position to finish third.

Kofoid’s podium also helped him reduce the championship deficit to Gravel as the World of Outlaws prepared for the Kings Royal weekend at Eldora Speedway.

Tanner Thorson charged from eighth to fourth, while Gravel advanced from sixth to fifth to maintain his position atop the series standings.

Larson’s Bid Ends With Eight Laps Remaining

Kyle Larson appeared to be on the way to another Brad Doty Classic victory before his night ended abruptly.

Larson qualified second in his group and won the second heat race from the pole. He started fifth in the feature and quickly joined the fight at the front.

After Lucius passed Macedo for the lead, Larson worked his way past both drivers and took control. With the laps winding down, the three-time Brad Doty Classic winner appeared capable of tying the event’s record with a fourth victory.

Larson’s race ended when he encountered a rut in Turns 3 and 4 and flipped with eight laps remaining.

He was officially scored 18th.

Although the incident removed Larson from contention, it opened the door for Lucius to reclaim the lead and complete his breakthrough performance.

2026 Brad Doty Classic Top 10

Bryce Lucius — No. 32

Logan Schuchart — No. 1S

Michael Kofoid — No. 83

Tanner Thorson — No. 88

David Gravel — No. 2

Bill Balog — No. 17B

James McFadden — No. 21

Brady Bacon — No. 21H

Kalib Henry — No. 101

Emerson Axsom — No. 27

Biggest Movers

James McFadden: 20th to Seventh

James McFadden produced one of the strongest charges of the night.

After starting outside the top half of the field, McFadden advanced 13 positions to finish seventh. His drive was the largest gain among the top-10 finishers.

Kalib Henry: 22nd to Ninth

Attica regular Kalib Henry gave the home crowd another strong performance.

Henry transferred into the feature through the Last Chance Showdown and started 22nd. He then moved forward 13 positions to finish ninth against the World of Outlaws field.

Skylar Gee: 24th to 14th

Skylar Gee advanced 10 positions after beginning the main event from the final row. His run resulted in a 14th-place finish.

Chris Windom: 25th to 16th

Chris Windom also started from the rear of the field and climbed nine positions to finish 16th.

Cap Henry: 18th to 11th

Cap Henry narrowly missed joining Kalib Henry inside the top 10. The defending Attica track champion gained seven positions and finished 11th.

Tough Nights at Attica

Carson Macedo began the feature from the outside of the front row and spent part of the race battling for the lead, but he faded to 17th by the finish.

Larson’s crash dropped him from fifth to 18th, while Chris Andrews fell from ninth to 19th.

Sheldon Haudenschild started 14th but finished 20th. Zeth Sabo, Ashton Torgerson, Donny Schatz and Darin Naida were unable to complete the feature.

Trey Jacobs qualified for the main event but did not take the green flag.

The demanding Attica surface created passing opportunities throughout the field, but the developing ruts and changing conditions also ended the nights of several experienced competitors.

What the Brad Doty Classic Victory Means

Lucius entered the night with only 18 previous World of Outlaws feature starts.

He left Attica as a World of Outlaws winner, a Brad Doty Classic champion and the latest Ohio driver to defeat the sport’s best on home soil.

The victory was Lucius’ fourth career win at Attica Raceway Park, but none carried the significance of Tuesday night’s performance. He defeated a field featuring World of Outlaws champions, national touring stars and some of Ohio’s strongest local competitors.

Lucius also became the 27th different winner through 36 completed editions of the Brad Doty Classic.

The race demonstrated both the opportunity and danger presented by Attica’s compact layout. Larson appeared to have the winning car until a mistake ended his night, while Lucius remained close enough to capitalize when the opportunity returned.

With Schuchart pressuring him during the final eight laps, Lucius showed the composure of a veteran rather than a teenager pursuing his first national victory.

On a night honoring one of Ohio sprint car racing’s most respected figures, an Ohio driver produced a victory that will be remembered for years.

The 2026 Brad Doty Classic belonged to Bryce Lucius.

Bryce Lucius delivered one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 sprint car season Tuesday night at Attica Raceway Park, winning the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic for his first […]

[23,115,25
374,362,365,370,368,369,367,113,371,372,375,366,373
