From the Infield | Editorial Policy
From the Infield is committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, integrity, independence, and transparency throughout our sports journalism.
Our responsibility is to our readers. The following standards guide our reporting, photography, editorial decisions, and professional conduct.
1. Accuracy and Verification
Accuracy is the foundation of our journalism.
We strive to verify factual information before publication using reliable sources, including official competition results, league and team communications, firsthand reporting, interviews, and independently verified documentation.
Statistics, quotations, standings, schedules, and competition results must be checked for accuracy and attributed appropriately.
We distinguish confirmed facts from analysis, opinion, speculation, and developing information.
When facts are uncertain or developing, we seek to communicate those limitations clearly.
2. Editorial Independence
From the Infield maintains editorial independence from the teams, leagues, sanctioning bodies, sponsors, advertisers, and other organizations we cover.
Editorial decisions are based on newsworthiness, relevance, accuracy, and reader interest.
Advertising relationships, sponsorships, credentials, or professional access do not guarantee favorable coverage or protection from legitimate criticism.
No outside organization is granted editorial control over our independent reporting.
3. Fairness and Responsible Reporting
We aim to provide fair, balanced, and contextually accurate coverage.
When reporting disputed or potentially damaging allegations, we seek relevant documentation and meaningful opportunities for affected parties to respond.
We do not knowingly publish false statements, misleading information, or unsupported allegations.
Fairness does not require presenting unsupported claims as equal to well-established facts.
4. Sources and Attribution
From the Infield values firsthand reporting and clearly identified sources.
Information obtained from other publications, official statements, interviews, or documents must receive appropriate attribution.
We do not present reporting originally produced by another publication as our own.
Anonymous sources may be used when there is a legitimate editorial justification, the information is sufficiently verified, and the source’s identity is known to the responsible editor.
5. Corrections and Updates
From the Infield is committed to correcting material factual errors promptly and transparently.
When a significant mistake is identified, our editorial team will review the information, verify the appropriate correction, and update the article.
Material corrections will ordinarily include an explanatory note identifying the change and the date of correction.
Routine spelling, grammar, formatting, or other changes that do not alter the substance of an article may be made without a formal correction notice.
Articles may also be updated as additional verified information becomes available. Material developments will be identified when necessary to avoid misleading readers.
Readers may submit correction requests through our Contact page. Requests should identify the article, disputed information, and supporting evidence where available.
6. Photography and Visual Integrity
Photography is an essential part of From the Infield’s journalism.
We strive to portray athletes, teams, events, and competition accurately through responsible visual storytelling.
Photographs may receive routine adjustments for exposure, color, contrast, cropping, and other conventional editorial enhancements, provided those adjustments do not materially misrepresent the event.
We do not knowingly alter editorial photographs to add, remove, or change significant elements in a manner that misleads readers.
Photographs and other visual materials must be used with appropriate authorization, licensing, and attribution.
Illustrations, composites, and AI-generated imagery will be identified when necessary to ensure readers do not mistake them for authentic documentary photographs.
7. Artificial Intelligence and Editorial Oversight
From the Infield may use artificial intelligence and other digital tools to assist with research organization, transcription, editing, formatting, data processing, and production workflows.
All published editorial content remains subject to human oversight and appropriate fact-checking.
AI-generated information is not treated as an authoritative source. Material facts, statistics, quotations, and claims must be verified independently before publication.
Artificial intelligence must not be used to fabricate interviews, quotations, competition results, eyewitness observations, or events.
The editorial team remains responsible for the accuracy and integrity of published material.
8. Advertising, Sponsorships, and Commercial Content
From the Infield may accept advertising, sponsorships, and commercial partnerships to support its operations.
Paid content and material advertising relationships will be disclosed clearly when relevant.
Sponsored content must be distinguishable from independent editorial reporting.
Advertisers and sponsors do not receive authority to direct independent editorial conclusions.
9. Conflicts of Interest
Editors, reporters, photographers, and contributors are expected to disclose relationships or interests that could reasonably compromise—or appear to compromise—their editorial independence.
These may include financial interests, employment relationships, sponsorship arrangements, personal connections, or other professional obligations involving subjects of coverage.
When a significant conflict exists, the publication may assign coverage to another contributor, disclose the relationship, or decline the assignment.
10. Professional Conduct and Media Credentials
Our representatives are expected to conduct themselves professionally while attending events, conducting interviews, photographing competitions, and interacting with participants and officials.
Members of our editorial team must respect applicable event policies, safety requirements, credential restrictions, and designated media areas.
Media credentials are issued for legitimate editorial purposes and must not be misrepresented or used for unauthorized access.
11. Privacy and Sensitive Information
From the Infield seeks to balance legitimate public interest with individual privacy.
We exercise particular care when reporting information involving minors, medical matters, personal tragedies, or individuals who are not public figures.
Personal information will not be published solely to attract attention when it lacks a legitimate journalistic purpose.
12. Editorial Accountability
Responsibility for editorial standards rests with From the Infield’s editorial leadership.
Policies may be reviewed and updated as the publication grows and journalism practices evolve.
Readers who have questions about our editorial practices, wish to report an error, or would like to provide feedback may contact the publication through our Contact page.
